Demi Lovato: "Met Him" pushing "Dancing" aside?
Last week, Demi Lovato's "Dancing With the Devil" debuted on the Top 50 at #40, and drops to #47 this week, which is an unusual chart move. "Met Him Last Night" by Demi Lovato with Ariana Grande has not yet reached the Top 40 Mainstream top 50, but could next week. "Met Him" did debut at #49 on Hot ...

Hot AC: Is it time to move "Blinding Lights" into recurrent?
While I did like the song "Blinding Lights", I do think it is time to downshift the airplay. It's still in the Mediabase Top 10 (make that Top 5) in its 63rd week on the chart. And, as of last week anyway it was still in the Billboard Top 10 (on the Hot 100). Are listeners still requesting it that m...

Re: One-Hit Wonders
Good list. Some other songs from these bands that were 'hits' to me, though maybe with limited (minimal?) chart success: Belly "It's Not Unusual" [Tom Jones remake] Airborne Toxic Event "Changing" [played on Sirius Alt Nation] Chumbawumba "Amnesia" This was played on KIIS-FM, L.A. Hives "Try It Agai...

Re: Why is alternative rock radio so unlistenable as of late?
I actually like music by the Killers, Cage the Elephant and to a lesser extent Missio. Some of the other artists are hit-or-miss with me, such as Sir Sly and Glass Animals.
Sirius XM First Wave (channel 33) plays some of the artists you mention, like the Cure.

Re: Top 40 today
I agree with stormin-norman; too many stations keep songs in power rotation way too long. One example is the Weeknd's "Blinding Lights". Great song, but this is its 45th week on the Mediabase Top 40 chart, and it is still in the top 10. Really? One station that tweaked their format earlier this year...
Re: song
In previous years, Billboard's Hot 100 would only include singles in commercial release. Accordingly, some songs received play but did not chart, such as....Elton John's "Pinball Wizard"...Donna Summer's "Sunset People"....Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven"....also, singles that were giveaways or h...

Re: Do people really listen to internet radio station
I just checked out bullseyeradio.com - very cool. Early 60s songs that I was NOT familiar with, including an early rendition of MEMPHIS by the Beatles from 1962...listening to this station is an 'adventure'

Re: Are OLDIES really bad (dead)?
Oldies aren't dead. but they are less interesting. I listen to them from time to time, but not that often. What I DON'T want to hear is the same limited playlist over and over. Roy Orbison had other hits besides 'Only the Lonely' and 'Oh Pretty Woman' and 'Crying'. Surely the programmers can find an...

Re: New Carly Rae Jepsen song. The song of the summer?
It is a catchy song. Sirius Hits 1 is playing it; the song is in the top 20 of the latest Weekend Countdown. Will it catch on with the land-based radio competition?

Re: New Maroon 5 single
The song shot up from 44 to 23 in the latest Hot AC Published chart, so it is already off to a strong start. Probably best to play it, and tone down/muffle/obscure or delete the offending words. That's what Top 40 stations do with songs like that...it seems to work...
