Do Non-Competes hold up in court?

What's your experience with Non-compete agreements in radio? Have you actually seen them enforced? I'm curious to know if management ever gets away with this horrible contract add-on.

Re: Will Radio Get Worse Before it Gets Better?

Amazing that it's now been 5 years since I wrote this post. The replies have been thoughtful and appreciated. All I can say now is.. that I stand by what I said in the initial post. I'm still in radio, in a strong radio town, and I enjoy what I do for a living. But as a whole, the industry just plai...

Re: Will Radio Get Worse Before it Gets Better?

Well, 4 YEARS have passed since I first wrote this post, which is hard to believe. Unfortunately I was not mistaken in my thinking... radio is tighter than ever, with Very few people running many stations at a time. The job market is tougher than ever. I see ad postings on All Access now with severa...

Re: Will Radio Get Worse Before it Gets Better?

I wrote this original post over 3 years ago now, and while radio continues to struggle its way back, I believe that my original comments have proven, sadly, to be mostly true. Radio IS smaller than it was, with many groups employing way fewer bodies to run the same number of stations. I'm happily em...

Radio's not so bad.. the game has just changed..

Here's a excerpt from my book "The American DJ," (Search for "Kendall Weaver" at Amazon) Great interviews with Adam Carolla, John tesh, Time Moore, Jaye Albright, and more. From Chapter 12: Radio folk like to say that stations are not doing as well as in the past because corporations killed all the ...

Re: Will Radio Get Worse Before it Gets Better?

As a FOOTNOTE: I wanted to add that even in this unstable environment that so many are complaining about, there are still people working and being creative in this industry! I've accepted a position doing Tech Support for RCS/Clear Channel, and am finding it to be a great place to be! It puts me in ...

Re: Will Radio Get Worse Before it Gets Better?

I just realized it's been over a year since I first created this post. Many interesting comments and opinions later, I still stand by what I wrote. The good news is that many stations are doing better as the economy improves. The bad news is, the long term problems I mentioned in my original post st...

Re: Air Talent: We Need Your Stories! (The American DJ-Book)

Mockspeed, you certainly have a right to your opinion, although if you're so NOT interested, I'm not sure why you're here talking down to people. My book will be available this summer, and if you don't think these stories are interesting, don't buy it.

Air Talent: We Need Your Stories! (The American DJ-Book)

Re: Will Radio Get Worse Before it Gets Better?

So.. having read all the previous posts, I have to ask: Is it getting any better?
