Re: Radio Relevancy

Yes, one of the best in months. I've said it's like a restaurant that was the best and most profitable in town. Its owner decided to buy up ALL the restaurants in his area. He had four now. He bet the farm and paid top dollar for the other three restaurants who were competing with him. Now, he decid...

Re: downloading music for radio stations

You will NEVER want to use MP3 files on a broadcast station. It's an algorithmic REPRODUCTION of music. PURCHASE or use CD imports at WAV or LOSS LESS files and invest in larger hard drives. Any engineer will prove my point with a scope. But, if you're a signally-challenged FM trying to get beyond y...

Re: How about a good morning first

Yes, how about THIS for respect and "peeeeeeeople skills"? OM/PD: Morning (your name)--how are you? (wait for response; GENERALLY seem interested). OM/PD: What do you have as priorities today? People don't know what they don't know. If you haven't been TRAINED to deal with people, you don't know HOW...

Re: So, this is what it's come to...

There seems to be a group of people who are scared of "seasoned" radio veterans. They know that all they have going for them is the ability to use their youth as a weapon because they don't have the chops and skills to go head-to-head with radio PROS who have been doing this longer than some of thes...

Re: Note to AA re: Alan Burns

Consultants are paid to provide advice and a perspective gained from their years of experience and the experiences of their client stations. The "Wiki" mindset. I've seen station management blindly follow every word of the consultant and I've seen situations where the relationship was like a board d...

Re: Job Postings

No, I didn't apply. It's the tone of the ad that's improper. I believe a prudent and reasonable person would also agree. No salary requirements, no response is the comment that I believe is improper. And let's face it, they haven't invented a robo_jock that doesn't need at least ONE person, now have...

Re: Note to AA re: Alan Burns

Dates were reset. I joined way before 2009. I'm sure it was easier and quicker to not store, then restore the join dates for the rebuild.

Alan Burns is a class guy. Judge him by his ratings/revenue success with client stations. That should be the measurement.

Re: Will Radio Get Worse Before it Gets Better?

Tax incentives for returning radio frequencies to LOCAL owners. Return the FCC rule making process to the comparative hearing process. Allow ANY power FM to be dropped in if it serves a local community with its first aural service. There is an AM daytime station in Central Texas with two translators...

Re: A New Low on "Job Openings"

It is illegal to "hire" ANYONE on "commission only." You must pay a wage equal to minimum wage for the first 40 hours worked.
