Rock & Worship Roadshow Battle of the Bands!!!!

Looks like the Rock & Worship Roadshow is trying something new this year: a battle of the bands. At least I don't remember this from last year or before.

It's only in three markets./tour stops this time around: Chicago, Green Bay and Huntsville. AND they're getting radio involved: WONU, WAY-FM/Huntsville and WORQ. Listeners send their music in and the station decides the three finalists. The finalists' music is then sent to the Roadshow artists for the final decision.

The winning act in each market is the pre-pre-show warm-up, it sounds like.

Could they not find a new artist that would travel and play for nothing and this is their last minute attempt to involve listeners, radio, etc.?

There doesn't seem to be much advance notice.

Or maybe I'm crazy.
