JJ I pray you never come across hard times and pray even more that you learn how scholarships work and who funds them.
I have a BA that was largely paid for by scholarships. They were not a handout and they were funded by people who wanted students to be able to attend college with little to no debt. Today I annually donate to two of these funds, work for a company that paid for my MBA, again not another handout, and gladly help those who are in need. So how do the people feel that fund scholarships? Damn proud and blessed to be able to do so.

Congrats to the OP for being able to turn things around.

Scott, you have no idea what I've pulled myself through. You received all kinds of handouts and clearly feel guilty about not doing things for yourself hence your mental gymnastics to convince yourself that other people paying your way isn't a handout. If you have boys I hope you teach them to be real men and do for themselves, you're too old, pathetic, and irrelevant to matter now.

What a sad, little boy you are jjenkins. Sorry you don't work for me, it would be a pleasure showing you the door.

@datwood you wouldn't be able to afford to hire me in the first place you pathetic turd. Let me guess, another handout receiver? Jerkoff, get back to being irrelevant and pretending that you matter.

Before everyone starts slamming you for one reason or another I just want to say I'm glad you found work in your chosen field. I'm really happy for you.

jjenkins...

Good job posting such clever shit on a radio message board, Keyboard Warrior. Only someone who's suckled on the dual dried-up teats of rampant self-loathing and xenophobic vitriol could ever hope to produce such prescient brain blather.

You're like a human Play-Doh extruder, my man. Your stepmother and her succession of shitty methhead boyfriends must be elated to call you family. :P

While you guys have an internet pissing contest...

I know this was over a year ago and kudos for you for getting on your feet, man. That said, if you were going to culinary school it would have made sense to get a job in the field you were choosing. PT board oping for minimum wage would not help you in the long run. I was a chef before I went into radio, and I find it stange that you graduated in less than a year. I may not be taking a trade school or accelerate program into account, but to get an associates degree, I needed 2 years of schooling and then another 2 years for bachelors. You then mentioned you "didn't want a hand out" or to apply for unemployment. Well, if you've ever worked and had taxes and such deducted from your check, you were paying into the system. Also, if you were terminated on good terms (no violations of company policy or just up and quit) then you'd be entitled to unemployment as your right. It would not be a hand out. (Trust me, my mother is a HR specialist and I've had her go over this with several people.) Then you said you received a scholarship, well that is a hand out, sort of. People set up scholarships and pick people, or you have to do something to earn it. So that is help, free money, etc. Still, you had to do something to earn it.

Again, I'm glad you are succeeding and no longer homeless. It just bothered me that some of your story didn't add up.Granted, I don't know you personally and some things don't always carry over correctly in print. Good luck to you :)
