I Found it in the Last Place I Looked

Doc: In our morning show meeting the other day, our PD said he was looking for his watch for several days and he finally found it in the last place he looked. We all looked at each other with strange expressions because why would anyone keep looking for something once it is found? He then said, "Well, that could actually be a legitimate thing to say. Think about it." We did, and can't come up with an answer. Any thoughts? - Anonymous

Anon: Your PD's line is on George Carlin's list of 10 things that make him angry, although he used a different title for his list. On to your PD's "test" question . . .

The line can be legitimate (using your PD's term), but not as it stands. In order to be legitimate, the line would need a few more details. For example, "I have been looking for my watch for days and decided to look in one more place. If it wasn’t there, I was going to stop looking. I found it in the last place I looked."

That's one alternative.
