Hi Doc: We're having a debate at the station and we need your help. What is the "correct" version of John Waite's "Missing You?" That is, when it was released in 1984, what version did CHR stations play? The 4:25 album version where he talks during the intro or the 4:00 single version? Thanks for your help! - Anonymous

Anon: I checked on the Internet and also with a few PDs who were around at that time. From what I have learned, and I’m about 95% sure that this is correct - CHR radio stations played the 4:01 version when the song was released in June 1984.

If anyone else has more information, please let me know.

Doc: You are correct! (Which is not surprising to your regular readers.) Here's an interesting thread about the three released versions of the song and their sources. The root website itself is a treasure-trove of information if you're looking to get the "right" version of a song. I subscribe to their database and it has proven invaluable: thread.

Hope this helps! - Gene Savage, BlackLight Radio

Gene: Thanks for the additional information. I appreciate the help. I try to do my best.
