Re: Gotta love GHETTO RADIO
Well.. compared to the "free" gigs, it's an amazing opportunity!
But that's the going rate for small market radio.. $25k to low $30's doing a live shift, production, VT'ing a shift on one of the clusters other stations.
Beats bustin' rocks, and way better than working for free for "exposure".

I agree with Frank. Great job for somebody starting out or ending their career with a pile of cash and wants to retire in a beautiful cheap area. Those personal appearances are a good place to make local contacts that could lead to paid gigs or other opportunities. By the way, when you say ghetto radio is that a synonym for Black? This is not Russia. You don't have to go there. You don't even have to work in this business.

Well said buckss
Re: Gotta love GHETTO RADIO
No buck it wasn't meant to be black. I guess YOU assume it was a racist comment. No way. Just meant GHETTO being cheap and poor and desolate. Know what I'm saying my brotha?
And 25K is not just in the small markets anymore. I was just offered midday's for 25K in a top 5 market.
But Buck you are right about retiring and 30K being desirable. IF you saved a pile of money

I hate to break it to you, but the money isn't there to pay a small market jock $75k a year.
And they'll find young folks with much better attitudes than yours to work for that $25-30k.

You're Right! $25-30K and they will be happy until they figure out they're Starving.

Sorry, but that's the reality of radio now. Being a jerk about it on a forum isn't going to change that.danno wrote:dwc151 wrote:I hate to break it to you, but the money isn't there to pay a small market jock $75k a year.

i don't know how pointing out Radio's Miserable salaries is being a jerk, ya its a reality, and a public service for those who haven't figured it out already. Good Radio costs Money for Talent, its real simple if radio wants less than that they will have less, and talent will seek other means.

Calling people "clueless fucks" is being a jerk.danno wrote:i don't know how pointing out Radio's Miserable salaries is being a jerk
