Re: ###HELP !!!### - NEED HELP WITH AIR-CHECK,
I would agree with djblakjak. Network is very important but if you are in a small or medium market, it is nearly impossible to network successfully. My biggest suggestion is to listen to your air checks before you send them out. Make sure they are tight and with one VO after the next. Do not sound produced...sound natural and the real personality will come out. Listen to a major market talent and learn from their style. Find yourself and I bet you will be surprised! Good luck!
Re: ###HELP !!!### - NEED HELP WITH AIR-CHECK,
If you've only sent out "hundreds" of packages, don't panic yet. When it gets into the "thousands", then consider doing something else.
Stick with it.
Stick with it.
Re: ###HELP !!!### - NEED HELP WITH AIR-CHECK,
Keep it very tight....and 3 minutes max...Start strong...wham bam thank you mam! If you don't catch the PD's ear right away...you're history. No music or spots between breaks..the PD wants to hear You...give it some emotion too...hot to chill...pacing is very important. Process the air check if you have to...make it stand out from all the other air checks the PD is considering...Record from an Air monitor...taking from the board audio sounds flat...I've listened to a thousand air checks over the years and this is what I look for...but the talent must be there or as least show the PD that you have something they are looking for...A good PD can take what you have and make you better.
Good luck
